Let’s face it…. It’s pretty easy to become stressed in today’s world. So much to accomplish, so many distractions, so little time… And we all know stress isn’t good for your body or mind!
If you take the time to create a home, office or space that is calming and peaceful you may find yourself better equipped to manage the stress of today’s hectic world.
1) Declutter- MRIs and other diagnostic tests have shown that clutter affects your brains ability to concentrate and process information. Get rid of those things on your bench top that don’t need to be there. Clear your desk. Get organised so you are not wasting time finding your keys/phone/wallet for the 700th time today….
2) Bring the outside in- Studies have shown that stocking your space with plants can help calm you down. Buy a few low maintenance succulents and choose nature inspired patterns to make your space the zen paradise you need.
3) Use relaxing colours- Soft neutral colours with blue/ green hues are said to promote a sense of well-being. Strong, bright colours can be fun but won’t create the same relaxing vibe.
4) Consider your lighting- Harsh, bright lighting can impact on your bodies ability to produce melatonin and have an impact on your sleeping habits. Warm soft lighting via lamps and/or halogen bulbs will help create your perfect space.
5) Leave technology at the door- Obviously most of us need our smart phones, tablets, laptops etc on a daily basis but try and create some space/s within your home that are technology free. Time without your devices goes a long way to reduce stress.
