Occupational therapy (OT) is a client-centred health profession, concerned with promoting health and well-being through function and activity. It aims to assist people in reaching their maximum potential in everyday life. Our occupational therapists focus on soft tissue treatment and rehabilitation. Soft tissue treatment and rehabilitation is aimed at improving the function of muscles, tendons and ligaments. Our OTs use a variety of soft tissue techniques with the aim of releasing tight muscles, breaking down fibrous adhesions and retraining the body to use muscles correctly.
Our Occupational Therapists are highly trained, with over 40 years of combined hands-on experience. They will listen to your needs and provide you with treatment that will best suit the individual.
Occupational Therapy can be of benefit to a wide range of conditions such as:
- Neck pain and stiffness.
- Tension headaches or migraines.
- Upper, middle, and lower back pain.
- Arthritis and general stiffness.
- Sporting injuries.
- Repetitive strain and overuse injuries.
- Stress-related muscle tension.
- Long-term postural complaints.
- Chronic pain.
Our qualified and dedicated OTs provide thorough assessments to evaluate your condition and provide you with a plan to promote healing and optimise well-being. You will also receive personalised stretching and strengthening programs to suit your needs. This, combined with your clinical treatment, will assist in restoring optimal movement patterns. Your OT will explore your lifestyle factors, such as workplace set up and sleeping positions, to identify and manage aggravating factors.
As well as providing you with a thorough musculo-skeletal assessment during your appointment, our Occupational Therapists can also provide comprehensive ergonomic assessments to better understand some of the contributing factors in your day-to-day life, such as work, sleep, and poor posture, which may be affecting your body. They are able to give lifestyle advice, which will assist in promoting your general well-being and ongoing healing.
Occupational Therapy is a holistic service looking at all contributing factors to your condition. Stress can play a key part in long term issues with the body and our OTs use many techniques such as mindfulness and meditation to reduce stress in the body. No referral is required and rebates are claimable for all services from private health funds. This will depend on the insurer and individual cover. To confirm your individual cover, please contact your health insurance fund.
